The total duration of the tour is between 12 and 14 hours, starting very early in the morning and returning to Cusco in the afternoon. The hike itself takes approximately 3.5 hours round trip.
The best months to visit are April, May, September, and October, when the weather is more stable and skies are usually clear.
The hike is considered moderate to challenging, mainly due to the altitude (up to 5,200 m.a.s.l). It is recommended to have good physical condition and to acclimatize in Cusco for one or two days before the tour.
